Day 12&13: The Great Wuhan City Tour!

Day 12 woke up super early for our Wuhan City Tour! We gathered at the admin building at 7.15, without Millison as she wasn’t feeling well…

Our tour guide, Ms Lei!

Took a 2 hours bus ride over to East Lake, where we had a short walk! This place is quite beautiful too haha  large bodies of water, trees of green and the gentle wind… SHIOK! Haha xD

And I’m seriously getting used to this kind of toilets already…
The pungent smell, the absence of water to clean yourself… 3 cheers to wet tissue! Haha :D

We then headed over to the Wuhan Provincial Museum! It’s divided into 3 portions… the oldest building here currently holds the artifacts from the Three Kingdoms Age, and requires a payment fee to enter! So we aren’t going in there =( instead, we got the other 2 buildings to visit!

The museum!

First, we went to the building that holds the artifacts from the Yue and Wu Kingdoms. It was supposed to hold the sword of Guo Jian, King of Yue… but apparently it was out on another exhibit =/ toured around this building, and headed over to the next

Okay, for a short intro, this exhibit is about a high ranking official’s tomb. He was buried together with soldiers, girls, weapons and musical instruments!
We are allowed to have a trial of the instruments… in the form of keyboards! Each key coo responds to a different way of striking a different bell!
Photobucket
Yes I’m obsessed with toilets… and THIS IS THE BEST TOILET I HAVE FOUND SO FAR!
At least, the ‘special’ corner is white :P

But I more or less gave up on following the tour guide and went for my own tour. The tour guide brings us to war artifacts, which is so repetitive… =.= instead, I found pottery and paintings on the second floor! Now that’s what I’m looking for!

Awesome cups… each cup has a poem inscribed on it to represent the different months, a total of 12 cups for the 12 months!

Went over to a snack street after that! They got special cash cards to use there! I got Zha Jiang noodles here too… and conclude that Canteen 2’s is still better… LOL! Also had Tang Bao and slush!

Went back, and headed over to the Yellow Crane Tower, the only AAAAA tourist spot in the whole of Wuhan! It didn’t exactly look like anything special to me though… and it’s a modern tower too, equipped with a lift – for use with just 2 Yuan! Third floor has a souvenir shop, which sells interesting things such as medallions and fans, and you can personalize them!

Super long kite…

Brief introductions first! Wuhan is split into 3 sections: Wu Chang, where Optics Valley and WUST is, Hanyang, which is south of the next, Hankou! Hanyang is named as such as they have a saying that yang is south of a mountain, and north of a river, which in this case is the Han River and Tortoise hill! But of course, the Han River now flows north to Hanyang as it has changed its course!

Basically, we went to Hankou just to shop! Walked round and round that area, and suffered greatly as I was with the girls, whom spent quite awhile in clothes, makeup and accessories shops! I bought two pairs of shoes… one for me, one for Jehanne!

Walked a very very long way back to the bus drop off area, and took a bus back to the hostel!
Classes again tomorrow… another morning class!

=====================================
I seriously think that they should stop setting up souvenir shops around the landmarks… It actually ruins my mood to continue sightseeing

And it also makes me itch… Nonetheless! Controlling of my expenditure is part of my plans here… No excessive spending till the last week!
