Day 5&6: The 绿林山庄 adventure!

Woke up real early just for this :O
We were assembled at the admin building at 7.30am
To take a 4 hours long bus ride over to our destination, the AAAA class tourist attraction
绿林区!
Our tour guide is Ms Chen, but the Chen is a much different one from me!
She gave us a brief introduction of the attraction and what we are going to do there!
Most of the people in the bus dozed off soon after, leaving me, Yee Tat and Tony to chit chat with Ms Chen a fair bit.
She is not that much older than us, and is also studying at WUST! She also gave us a lot of advice on how to live better in the hostel!
The bus... well, it wasn’t the best bus ride I’ve had. The bus is practically hopping due to the high speed, swerving and uneven roads!
The bus driver, Mr. Mule, was another interesting figure. Spitting out of the window on to the road, smoking on the bus, and being extremely horny. Why? Let me explain… his horn is much louder than any other horns I ever heard in Singapore – and I took the Malaysia train before, and his horn is sounded for every single little reason! Cutting lanes, to force people to cross the traffic light so that the bus can also go across and such! Talking about cutting lanes, they use both lanes =.= as in, there’s usually a left and ride lane right? And only the right should be used as the left is for vehicles going the opposite direction! That’s only in theory though! In practice, both lanes can be used, even if it means meeting another vehicle head on >.< Somehow, we always managed to escape it by a thin margin…

Halfway through, the bus stopped for toilet break…
I went to take a look at the toilet, and was appalled just by the plain sight of it

*shock*
Yuppies, now I think the hostel toilet is imba!!
Photobucket
The tour guide’s seat! Its right beside the door and its foldable… seems quite dangerous >.<

Road full of rice! Apparently, that’s how they dry rice over here in China!
Photobucket
Rice fields – I think

Once we entered the area, we had a second tour guide, and the bus continues moving on towards the hotel

We then had lunch…
Photobucket
The food isn’t TOO bad I guess? Haha

After that, we went to buy some straw sandals which will be better for water activities – we don’t want to lose our good sandals, do we?
Had a rather hard time putting it on, and I ended up having a road sweeper teach me how to wear it!
And I learnt something… Being road sweepers doesn’t necessarily mean that they are stupider than we are! In fact, most of them know more than us, just not in the academic field. They are able to see things in a much different perspective, which may prove to be invaluable in their own ways!

We then headed over for rafting!
We were paired up and I am with Calista!

Luckily, I have quite a bit experience with oars thanks to kayaking and dragon boating from Boys Brigade! Quite fun, a lot of nice scenery around, as well as currents which allows us to slack a bit :X
Splashed water at other people to flood their dinghies! Haha, and halfway through we were pulled by motor boat! Tiring part though, as my rope broke off twice, leaving me to hold on to the boat in front of me just by my hands… painful >.<

At the end, we reached a shower area, where I went to take a shower… and well, it’s not exactly fantastic ._. Mosquitoes everywhere, poop on the ground! Water power not being powerful enough… well, I expected that part already haha :X dumped the straw sandals… they are really flimsy! They were torn when I came out of the dinghy a few times to empty the water from the dinghy – well, splash water and you’ll get splashed back? :P

Went over to 美人谷 after that! We were given a choice of whether to take a boat or take a stroll and we opted for the stroll ^.^
The place look really beautiful! We crossed bridges and a path made of rocks sticking out of water and soon we reached…

A very beautiful waterfall!

The path we took!

The waterfall is really beautiful… I spent quite awhile just standing in front of it and just looking up at it.
Majestic. That very one word that came to my mind
Took a walk further in after that…

Another beautiful waterfall… comparable to the first one in fact :O

After that, we went for lunch! It’s a restaurant right beside our lunch area!
Photobucket
Photobucket
FOOOOOD :D

After that, we finally checked into our hotel room. Was mentally prepared for the worst thanks to Dr. Tan, who asked us not to expect too much from a hotel in a rural area… but what could I say? THE HOTEL IS FIT FOR HUMANS THAN THE HOSTEL!
Haha, basically, I was insanely happy with it :D

Photobucket
SOFT BEDS!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Towels! So no need to use my own and save the hassle of drying it!
Photobucket
High tech o.o
Photobucket
The door!

There’s also a TV and stuff!

One down thing though, there was a kettle but the water that came out of the tap is cloudy… so I didn’t boil water =.=

Took a good long shower, and went out to watch TV!
Went out to the supermarket here too, and they were having a campfire right outside! O.o
Went back, watched Project A by Jackie Chan and off to bed!
=============================================
The next day, we went back to the same restaurant for breakfast… which was AWESOME! Buns and stuff! :DD
Went to the supermarket to get some water…

And we were off to our next destination!

It’s a hill-top fort that was used by farmers in the past during the farmer’s revolution!

The bus ride was rather exciting haha, as we were charging along edges of a cliff :X we then went up by foot into the fort itself!

Photobucket
A well!
Photobucket
A performance going on… like no link to this fort at all der =.=”

Watched quite a few people riding the horses… wanted to try too! But the horse look like going to collapse already and the guy still whipping… forget it, I’m not going to ride after all…

Went down to the last attraction point, a temple! To me, it’s like a quack temple. They are selling Buddhist beads, and there are “package deals” too…. =.=
There’s also a grand bell that is believed that if sounded 3, 6 or 9 times will give prosperity!

Photobucket
Photobucket
The temple!

Went to take a peek at camel peak, not before facing a rather complicated mountain route to walk! At the end of the path, there’s a God of Fortune carved into the rock wall itself, and that marks the end of our trip here!

On the way up!

Headed off for lunch back at the same restaurant and we are off on another 4 hours bus ride back! Watched a movie called 零零狗 on the bus, quite funny too :P got back, and that’s about it! We are going to have our classes the next day! *finally*

===================================
It’s all about perspective
To us, perhaps a 4 hours bus ride is insanely long
But to them, it is just an everyday journey
What we were told was that it is a short journey
This was probably true from their point of view
And very very false in ours

There are only somethings that can be seen when there is ample land
Such as mountains across the horizon
While this may be commonplace to them
It is a true majestic view for us

Perhaps the difference between us and them
It’s all a matter of perspective after all
