Day 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11: When the studying times begin...

Day 7 marks our first lesson here in Wuhan! Finally, after 1 week… we had lessons at 10am, at classroom 302! We had a hard time waking up for that time, though it was easy for us back in Singapore having lessons at Ngee Ann! Climbed up an extremely long stretch of stairs and finally made it up to Foreign Language School (FLS)! Dr Tan was the one teaching us our CTCM module, or Complementary and Traditional Chinese Medicine module! Not exactly what I was expecting though, haha. Had a rough overview of what this module is about and we got off at 12!

We finally had a real campus tour after that! Had a walk around the School of Infocomm first, lots of machinery and computers! Reminds me a lot about what Mr. Phang taught in InfoTech! Haha, but it was hard trying to link the Chinese words to the technical terms that were taught in InfoTech!

The famous words again…

We headed over to the School of Life Sciences after that! It was insanely far though, we reached the West Hostels and Canteens 3 and 4 before we even caught sight of it! And it’s completely isolated from the rest of the campus…

West part of the campus alr? O.o

Their labs…

We went around the labs and stuff… and realized that their school is a combination of Ngee Ann’s LSCT and HS! This also means, nursing is part of their courses here!

And in case you were wondering, those models in the glass cabinets are real samples. I’ve only seen the heart and brain ones in Ngee Ann, and I won’t deny that look at these models makes me feel very very sick.

And we headed off after that back to your bunks!

Day 8, had lessons at 2pm as there is no IS in the morning! I went for a campus run early in the morning – my trip mates pangseh me lol, they say too tired alr… oh well! I ran to Canteen One, the back of FLS, beside the lake, to School of Life Sciences, to Canteen 4, to Canteen 3, to the library, down to the admin building, to the InfoComm School, to the main school gate and back to bunk! Took a shower, slacked a bit and headed off to class!

Most of us were all still pretty worn out during lesson… guess we just aren’t really used to this place yet! On the way to school, this time, we counted the amount of steps that we had to take in that extremely long staircase! It is worth a total of 135 steps… and I feel thankful that ours is just 75 steps >.< C’mon! Even the local students are panting after climbing up!

Learnt about the basics of TCM, as well as the Sheng and Ke cycle for the 5 elements! The concept here is quite… nature based, and everything just seems to flow as a full cycle, interrelated to each other!

Lesson!~ and yes, that’s a black board

LAME!

Day 9, had lessons at 2pm! IS is still not in sight! Didn’t really do many things outside, as I was finishing up my Learning Plan, which I have left quite late! Yee Tat, Millison and Tony went out to Guang Gu to shop a bit, while I had the room all to myself! Took the chance that the room is emptier to do laundry too… think I’m getting used to it alr haha!

Day 10, lessons are on at 2pm! But it’s still a great pain to wake up on time for it >.<
Went to grab noodles, and ate as I walked over to the FLS! Still no signs of our IS modules >.<
Went for a jog with the MDE people after classes! Ran together with Alvin, and he complained that I was giving him a lot of stress by pacing him! There was a fair amount of flies around too, and it was close to dusk when we finished!

Went out with Alvin and Eshlyn for dinner right outside school, at a Western restaurant! And the food there is really good, even better than Singapore! And all that of course, comes at a price… but heck, it’s worth it once in awhile ;)

Day 11, classes at 9am is a real pain in the ass… and we finally had our very first IS lesson! And it’s together with the MDE class!

Photobucket
Saw a whole bunch of people wearing army uniform… they are annoying! Make so much noise early in the morning =.=
Photobucket
And just in case you were wondering how scary 135 steps are…

Our teacher is Ms Anna, an English teacher in the FLS! She gave us an introduction and a rough history to Hubei itself! But of course, it was a real tiring experience as history stuff is quite dry and we were very exhausted!

Ms Anna

Went back to hostel to slack a bit, before going back to FLS for CTCM!

Photobucket
Saw this on the way… Spelling mistake!

Tiring as we had to go back up the 135 steps once again… and we were almost half asleep during the lesson… after that, we cleaned up our learning plan and submitted it! Slept early as we were pretty tired and had to report at 7.15 the next day for your excursion, which is Wuhan City Tour!

P.S. The pictures seems to be giving me a great big headache, wonder where i've gone wrong this time :O

=============================

Meeting new people is fun, isn’t it?
Especially when we are all of different courses!
We always meet barriers in your conversation, but it doesn’t really matter

New people that shares a common interest, such as running
Wouldn’t that be good?
Instead of running alone, having someone to run with you always motivates you to push further

Sometimes, we should really move out of our own cliques, and move over to others
See and learn things from a brand new perspective
And better improve ourselves

==============================

Being in a much foreign land with a much more foreign education system
It’s quite surprising how their facilities are used
Different requirements and expectations of a different education system
This may be for the good, or for the bad
To improve ourselves, we have to pick up the good points
And learn how to avoid the bad points, so as to achieve a much better life for us
